All submissions are in. Let the judging begin!
To all of my talented design friends out there, I put this challenge to you: Can you create a fantastic new logo for the upcoming “Warm Gun: Designing Happiness” conference? The event is being hosted by Dave McClure (500 Hats) and Sean Parker (Founders Fund). It will be attended by some of the best designers and most exciting startups in the industry. It is a new 1-day conference for designers and non-designers to learn about elegant, purposeful, and measurable online design that can help drive business objectives.
I’m one of the advisers for the conference, so I would love to put the name of the winning designer up in bright lights. But, wait! There’s more! The designer who creates the winning logo also gets a free pass to the conference, which will take place on October 8th at the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco, CA.
Logo should aim to incorporate the following:
- Name and tagline (“Warm Gun: Designing Happiness”)
- Visual elements (1-3 iconic visual images)
- Strong colors
- Emotional / Psychological impact (e.g., passion, action, high impact, delight)
Style ideas from Dave:
The title “Warm Gun” comes from the Beatles song “Happiness is a Warm Gun“, so he was thinking the logo could potentially draw from the following styles or posters from the 60’s and 70’s:
– Beatles / Yellow Submarine
– James Bond / Man with the Golden Gun, Live and Let Die, etc
– Nancy Sinatra / Boots are Made for Walking
– Quentin Tarantino
But, feel free to wow us with some brilliant idea of your own! If you win, we will need the logo in multiple file formats for both online and print use. As usual, please do not use images or graphic elements that you do not own, unless you have purchased the appropriate license for re-use. The work you are submitting must be your own and you are agreeing that you are legally entitled to submit it.
