Question: What was the biggest sacrifice you faced when changing career?

With my most recent (and biggest) career change, the biggest sacrifice was leaving behind a Silicon Valley salary to start my own business.

I was easily making a lot more money with a full-time comp package that included my base salary, bonuses, stock options, 401K, and health insurance. As a business owner, I fund my own benefits and my income is completely based on the effort I put in every week.

To make this possible, we left Silicon Valley and sold our home there. We moved to a more affordable location that we really enjoy, out of the city life. We manage our expenses tightly.

So, I guess you could say I sacrificed a large steady paycheck in order to have my independence and fully own my career path.
